Did you know... Over 300 million cartridges cell phones were thrown away last year alone. The clutter crowds our landfills and threatens our environment. For everyone’s safety, please do not store old cell phones or toss them in the trash. A press release dated May 8, 2002 from INFORM, a national environmental research organization, stated “toxic substances contained in cell phones include a number of chemicals, which have been associated with cancer and a range of reproductive, neurological, and development disorders”. |
What happens to recyclables? Empty cartridges are refilled and resold as remanufactured cartridges. Phones are refurbished and sold as reconditioned phones. If any item cannot be refurbished it is recycled according to appropriate government guidelines.
