Statewide Family Support

The following organizations are a part of UCP Colorado's umbrella of Statewide Family Support Services. Each program has its own specialized focus that provides critical resources for Colorado families and individuals. The total number served in 2008 was 22,945. This was achieved through the following programs:
   
Empower logo
EMPOWER Colorado
(Education Movement: Parents Offering Wisdom, Encouragement and Resources) EMPOWER Colorado has been created by parents and families for parents and families of children with mental health issues (brain disorders). Services include face to face support groups, a state-wide e-mail listserv,  personal responses to telephone inquiries, educational sessions and numerous resources for families on the website.
 
Parent to Parent of Colorado
Parent to Parent of Colorado is a statewide organization, which connects families of children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs across Colorado to each other and to numerous resources.  Services include one to one parent matching, a statewide list of parent support groups, an active listserv, a quarterly newsletter, a resource rich website and an annual picnic.
 
Guardianship Alliance of Colorado
Guardianship Alliance of Colorado is a statewide organization, which provides resources for information, assistance and coordination concerning guardianship, conservatorship and related matters for adults. GAC believes that all persons are entitled to lives of respect and dignity with freedom to exercise their rights and make their own decisions to the fullest extent of their abilities. The mission of the Alliance is to assure that these rights are protected and that appropriate decision-making support is available to adults in Colorado with seriously impaired decision-making capacity.

The Infantile Scoliosis Outreach Program (ISOP) is pivotal in connecting families of children with progressive infantile scoliosis to resources and information neededto make the best and most “least invasive” choices.
 
Citizens for Patient Safety
Citizens for Patient Safety (CPS) is an organization that consists of individuals, families, professionals and business owners who are dedicated to patient safety, committed to providing equal access to the justice system and educating themselves and future generations to take action to protect individuals’ health and safety.

"Faith In Action" develops supports within faith communities, using a "Circle of Friends" approach, to support people with disabilities in their own communities.
